In the wake of the devastating tornados last week, thousands of families have been displaced, homes destroyed and lives been turned upside down throughout the Midwest. To try and help repair some of the damages, the charitable organization Move For Hunger has stepped in to lend a hand.

Move For Hunger is a group of relocation companies across the country that make up one of the nation’s largest year-round service programs. Movers who are involved in the program offer to pick up any unwanted, non-perishable food items to those who are moving and deliver it to local food banks.

With the help of Blackhawk Moving & Storage, Move For Hunger has currently come to the aid of those in the Sycamore, IL area who have suffered damages due to the recent storms.

"Our thoughts go out to all effected by the terrible weather that has been raging through the Midwest.  Our amazing mover members,

Blackhawk Moving and Storage & Fort Dearborn Relocation of Sycamore, IL have been assisting with collecting food and items for those in need.”

If you are able to provide any assistance or donations, they are collecting items at their office located at: 340 South Avenue, or you can take them to the Sycamore Police Department located at 535 DeKalb Avenue.

Fortunately, they no longer need any further donations of blankets, towels, wash cloths or water, but according to the City of Sycamore's website, here is a list of items still needed:

Work Gloves, flashlights, heavy duty garbage bags, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, first aid kits (in ziploc bags if possible), pet food, Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, hand sanitizer, toiletries, baby clothes, batteries (AA,D), baby formula, plastic silverware, non-perishable items, pack and plays, gently used car seats, diapers, baby wipes, hand wipes, and boxes/bins.
